    Mannheim Jan 20, 2010

    Hi,

Satz beginnen konnte. Woher nahm dieser Mann die Luft?????

Back from David's concert in Mannheim.

David played a core classical concert with the Mendelssohn concerto in the 2nd Part.

I am absolutely overwhelmed, he has played brilliant, the Mendelsssohn concerto was incredible. The audience really made it to clap between the 1st and the 2nd movement. I am still asking myself how the fagott managed to hold the note until the audience stopped clapping and the second movement was due to begin.....Where did this man get the air from??

    Some photos!

(ps - I don't think you quite mean "faggott" - you might like to use a different word for the musician - lol )

Thank you for the wonderful photos.  If I am not mistaken I think I remember you saying Mendelssohn was one of your favorites.  Glad you could enjoy it.

It was the best Mendelssohn Concerto I have ever listened to. It was warm, full of relief and emotion. He looked so happy! He is so comfortable on stage! Once again, he proved he was not only a great virtuoso but a talented show man as well.

In the first part, he joked with the audience, warming them so easily. There were a lot of young people, even children. They looked enthusiastic. I am not be used to see so many young people on any classical concert. I think it is really the good way to bring young people to classical music. He is changing the classical concert. The form is changed but the virtuosity is still there.

Here is my video on youtube, click on the pic:

    Enjoy

    Hi Eva!

Thank you so much for this beautiful video!

I love to listen and watch David playing the Meditation.

    It is so terribly emotional.........

Thank you Eva for this wonderful post.  He is doing a great job of bringing young and old together to appreciate and get a new understanding towards classical music.  This video just shows his raw emotion and love of classical music.  I love the crossover but would like to see him play a classical concert in the states, but alas I think I will have to travel to Germany to see that type of concert - at least for now - and I don't see that in my near future. Crying I am sure as he continues to break all boundaries there will be a classical concert tour sometime in the states and I WILL BE THERE.

    Thanks so much again.

    @ Heather

If all of you from US asked to have a classical concert, he would give it you. Be sure he loves playing classical music!  In the yesterday concert, we listened to the pieces of his new CD, "Classic Romance". When the CD will be released in US, you could attend this type of concert! Patience!

I did order (and received a month or so ago) the Classic Romance from Amazon.de and LOVE IT.  Aaaahhhh to see him perform all of those songs......You are correct - I am sure in time it will happen, I wish I would know where to begin to get the ball rolling for him to have this type of concert in the US. HA!!! Yes, I will need to have more patience OR plan a trip to Germany NOW......LOL!

    Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the wonderful video and review, Eva.

I think he has now really captured the magic of this exceptional "Meditation". Every time he plays it, he seems to feel more and more of the emotion of this very sad and moving piece.

    What a wonderful evening !
